tutorial,wireless nodes

Hello - I'm trying to learn how to create my own ns code.  I am using
the example from the EXAMPLE section in the ns v2 documentation.  I
created it exactly as listed, and then tried to run it, but I get this
error:

unix8.andrew.cmu.edu% ./ns EXample
can't read "ns_o2": no such variable
    while executing
"set ns[new Simulator]"
    (file "EXample" line 1)

Does anyone have suggestions on places I can look for help on errors?
Also, are there more examples around?  The user's guide and
documentation give the details, but I'm very hazy on how to put them
together.

Finally, has anyone used ns for Wireless network simulation?  Does ns
have built in capabilities for this, or did you have to write your own? 
Is there any documentation out there on how to use ns as a wireless
simulator?
