You cannot change a node's name. It is displayed as the node id. However,
you can attach agent(s) to a node, and display the agent's name as
whatever you want. Look at the ns (2.1b1, the newest one) man page,
tracing command section for more detail.

If by subnet you mean a lan, currently there isn't any tracing support in
ns to generate lan traces for nam. We expect it to be available in the
next release. If you want to use multiple views to look at details of
different parts of your simulation, you can open them using nam's GUI.
