LAN usage with ns

Hi,

I have several questions on use of LAN simulation. 
First can we combine LANs and point to point links? 
Can we apply routing protocols such as Session and DV?
Can we use nam to visualize the results?

All these questions came while I was trying to understand the different
functionality available. My script fails in all cases mentioned. I've also
tried to use snoop.tcl as an example. With this last script, if I had namtrace
it just fails too.
