HPUX10.20/ns2 problem

Hi:

I am trying to install ns2.1b4 from ns-allinone-2.1b4a on my HP-UX 10.20
using gnu c++ 2.8.0.

 I got  the following error while making ns:

.../gnu/gcc-2.8.0/lib/gcc-lib/hppa1.1-hp-hpux10.20/2.8.0/ld: Unsatisfied
symbols:
   version_string (data)
make: *** [ns] Error 1
Ns make failed! Exiting ...

(This happens after I applied a patch for config.h  .  The patch is
from  http://www-mash.CS.Berkeley.EDU/ns/ns-problems.html and it solved
the problem of having conflicting declarations. )

If you have installed ns2 successfully on HP-UX 10.20, it will be great
if you can let me know which version of compiler and ns2 you were using.
