delay for packets

Hi NS Experts

I am interested in finding out the delay a packet experiences from
source to destination, and then determine jitter experienced by the
packets. 

Is there a direct method to do it or I have to look at "trace file" and
then add up all the delays for each packet for all nodes from source to
destination.

Could you please help.
