Application attached to agent

hi,

    i noticed that we attach an application to a Agent Source, for e.g after
creating a TCP agent, we attach FTP to it. however, we don�t attach a FTP to
the TCP agent which is listening. Why is that so ? What will the TCP agent
which is listening do to the data that it receives ?
