[ns] unicast and multicast in NS

Hi all,

I'd like to inquire some information about unicast and multicast routing in
NS. I'm a graduate student doing my Master's degree right now. My research
project is to implement fault-tolerant multicast routing in 2-D mesh network
topology using NS. I start with unicast first. I studied the NS manual and
learned that detailed DV routing which just need the neighbor information to
compute the routes from source to destination. There is a routing table to
store the routes. My original idea was to modify DV routing to be
fault-tolerant in different way. But in a meeting with my supervisor, he was
thinking of using another routing called "row-column" routing. He mentioned
that this routing method doesn't need a routing table if labeling the node
properly. For example, use 3-4 digital codes or row-column expression.

What I'm wondering is whether it's possible to implement "row-column"
routing in NS without using routing table and whether it'll involve a lot of
related things have to be modified in NS. Probably, it's a hard job for me
to modify more than I can handle. I also concern about implement row-column
routing in multicast because of differences between unicast and multicast in
NS.

Thanks very much for any suggestions about them.
