Re: [ns] [Fwd: HELP ME....PLEASE]

Hi Daniel,
Thank you very much for your answer.
I tried your method in following ways ..
Please look at them and instruct me if I am wrong ..
Still I cannot able to install nam ...and things are at same place as
before.
Below, I am sending what I tried to follow you..
************************************************************************

1) I put the -lsocket in the Makefile.in present in the directory
~/NEW-1/ns-allinone-2.1b8/ns-2.1b8

LIB	= \
	@V_LIBS@ \
	@V_LIB_X11@ \
	@V_LIB@ \
	-lm @LIBS@ \
	-lsocket
#	-L@libdir@ \

2) Then I ran ./configure and them make .

3) Then I tried to run it ...but nam is still not working .

4) So please guide me where to put -lsocket exactly ...

5) Should I run ./install again from the ~/NEW-1/ns-allinone-2.1b8
directory..?
   I doubt that it might not work again because ./install will install
every thing again...

6)Also I tried following in the ~/NEW-1/ns-allinone-2.1b8/nam-1.0a10
directory

a) make distclean
b) ./configure
c)make
d) make install
   Upto step 3 it was ok .But I cannot run make install...
   And I got following errors:

pc137:~/NEW-1/ns-allinone-2.1b8/nam-1.0a10$ make install
/opt/sfw/bin/ginstall -c -m 555 -o bin -g bin nam /usr/local/bin
/opt/sfw/bin/ginstall: cannot create regular file `/usr/local/bin':
Operation not applicable
make: *** [install] Error 1

7) After this I stopped trying any more ....

6) I am waiting for your further reply....
   I will be greatly thankful for an early solution to this problem
