[ns] Incedent traffic from a number of Pareto On-Off Sources

Two questions:

(1)

In a basic drop-tail queue fed with N on-off Pareto sources; what is the command 
that would report the average queue size over a finite time step (say 1 mS) ?

Is there a better way of measuring the combined incident traffic ?

(2)

obtaining the above as a number and incorporating it in an algorithm to be 
written in C++, how would it be ported into the ns-simulator ?
