[ns] measure per flow dropped packets & delay at a node

dear all,
    I want to measure the mean delay that a specific node introduces to my
network, as well as the number & percentage of dropped packets at this node.
At this node I have a Droptail queue or diffserv (RED queue). I can take a
trace file with the trace-queue command and manipulate it with excel or a C
program or maybe filter -grep- it; those are suggestions from other users in
the archives.
 I would like to know if there is a more quick, elegant and
"ns-based" way of getting the desired results (especially the dropped
packets).
I have tried various things, especially the queuemonitor/ed/flowmon object
but it seems that I do something
wrong. If someone could give me a small piece of code demonstating this
flow-monitoring procedure as example it would be very helpful.
