[ns] installing ns

Recently, i tried to install ns from downloaded files
are: ns-allinone-2.1b8.tar.gz(50 MB),
ns-src-2.1b8.tar.gz (38MB) and
ns-wireless-ver.tar.gz(9 MB). but,..unfortunately
problems occured when i unpacked the files (in tar.gz
format)  especially 2 first files above. 
Here are the message displayed when i used command tar
zxf ns-allinone-2.1b8.tar.gz
- tar: this does not look like a tar archieve
- tar: skipping to next header
- tar: error exit delayed from previous errors
 
and message displayed  when i unpacked
ns-src-2.1b8.tar.gz  file using command tar zxf
ns-src-2.1b8.tar.gz 
- gzip : stdin : invalid compressed data -- format
violated
- tar : unexpected EOF in archieve
- tar : child returned status 1]
- tar : error exit delayed from previous error
but....... i wondered after running this command ,
there was a new directory created named
ns-allinone-2.1b8
i was insist to keep on trying to forward to the next
step is to install..... after read README file, i type
command ./install under directory that contain
ns-allinone-2.1b8 file, the result was, i thought....
not a successfull installing process.....
 
the question is what should i do to make a successfull
install process for ns!
