[ns] dup help-shared ns!!

hi all
i used the dup script provided by haobo yu to set up shared installation
for ns.I have a few problems now and really need any help anyone can give
me.when i followed the instructions given at the USC cs course page i got
a shared ns tree-my problem is now how do i make changes to this
tree...should i delete the symbolic links and replec them with my changed
files??when i do this ns does not make.
When i use the script without first setting up the tree but directly with
my changes in it my files are not incorporated and neither does the tree
make..since someone out there must have used dup earlier could you please
tell me what it is i am doing wrong??
