[ns] snapshot size
I grabbed today's ns snapshot, and it's (gack!) 44 megabytes!
Compressing test outputs to make the directory space used smaller is
all very well, but is there any reason why we can't switch to
gzipping, rather than compressing, those test outputs, given that the
snapshot is served as tar.gz, requiring gzip to open it?
Why require inefficient compress *and* better gzip when you need gzip
just to get started?

and a few others you'd expect are missing...
