by hacking recvBytes() in the sink, as outlined in
http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/archive/ns-users/webarch/2000/msg00059.html
only bytes delivered to the applicaton is truly realistic for a point
in time.
adding a per-sink bound variable is a bit more work...
