Hey, out there in Satellite Land... :)

A question from a "new-comer": Is there any minimum MTU (imposed by the
IP...or some other...standard) which must be supported by a satellite
link? Gateways/routers must support a 576 octet MTU...or the largest MTU
of the attached links...whichever is greater. Does the satellite link
also face a 576 octet MTU minimum?
