Generate traffic from a trace file

Hy everyone

I would like to generate traffic in a new simulation from a tracefile of
an older simulation.

So my questions are:

Is it possible and if yes, how does it work (which commands) ?

Can I use directly the tracefile of the older simulation made by ns/2 or
do I have to change the file ?
